THE
MISSION:
Created in response to a Congressional
and DoD mandate, the DARPA
Grand Challenge
is a field test to accelerate
research and development in autonomous
ground vehicles that will help save
American lives on the
battlefield. It is a Challenge
we could not refuse, and we are
working feverishly to prepare JackBot
for this historic contest.
THE
TEAM:
Phillip A. Yeager, Team
Leader - Phillip
Yeager
is a computer engineer and successful
amateur off-road racer.
As a founding member and a technical
team leader with InVision
Technologies, Inc., Phillip developed
key components of the first
FAA-certified airport baggage
explosive detection system.
The InVision CTX system is
now being widely deployed in airport
terminals in the wake of 9-11.
As a consultant for Eaton
Controls, Phillip designed and
implemented communications software
and computer subsystems for the
Navy’s new generation of nuclear
submarines.
As an engineer with Siemens,
Phillip developed
image processing and embedded control
software for medical imaging systems.

for SAIC where he designed computer
subsystems and electronics for
prototype instruments.
Highlights
of Phillip’s racing career include a
second place class championship in the
2002 World Off-Road Championship
